Data Usage & Tracking Policy

Your Current Preferences
Cookies AcceptedAt Cavitorant, we're upfront about how we track your activity on cavitorant.com. This page explains what information we collect through tracking technologies, why we collect it, and how you can adjust your preferences.
We don't use confusing technical jargon here. If something's unclear, reach out to us directly at contact@cavitorant.com.
What Are Tracking Technologies?
When you visit cavitorant.com, small data files get stored on your device. These include cookies, local storage items, and similar tracking mechanisms. They help us remember your preferences, understand how you use our financial tools, and improve your experience over time.
Think of them as digital bookmarks. Some are essential for the site to work properly. Others help us analyze traffic patterns or personalize content based on what you've looked at before.
How They Actually Work
Here's what happens behind the scenes: when you land on our site, your browser checks for existing tracking files. If found, they send stored information back to our servers. If not, new ones get created. Each time you click around, these files update with fresh data about your session.
Most tracking files expire after a set period. Some disappear when you close your browser, while others stick around for months or even years depending on their purpose.
Types of Tracking We Use
Essential Operations
These keep the site functional. Without them, you can't log in, access your financial records, or use secure features. We can't turn these off because they're required for basic operations.
Examples: session authentication, form submissions, security tokens.
Performance Analytics
We track how visitors navigate cavitorant.com so we can spot problems and make improvements. This includes page load times, error reports, and which features get used most.
Examples: Google Analytics, heatmap tracking, error logging.
Preference Storage
These remember your choices like language settings, display preferences, or which dashboard view you prefer. They make repeat visits smoother.
Examples: theme selection, saved filters, notification settings.
Marketing & Targeting
These track your activity across sessions to show relevant content and measure campaign effectiveness. They're the most intrusive type and can be disabled without affecting core functionality.
Examples: ad retargeting, conversion tracking, social media pixels.
Specific Tracking Methods on Cavitorant.com
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| session_id | Authenticates your login session and maintains account security | Until browser closes | Essential |
| user_prefs | Stores your dashboard layout and display preferences | 12 months | Functional |
| _ga | Google Analytics tracking for site usage patterns | 24 months | Analytics |
| campaign_ref | Tracks which marketing campaign brought you to our site | 90 days | Marketing |
| consent_status | Records your tracking preferences from this policy page | 12 months | Essential |
We also use localStorage and sessionStorage for temporary data like your current page state or unsaved form inputs. These stay on your device and never get transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly submit a form.
How Tracking Improves Your Experience
Analytics help us spot friction points. Last year, tracking data showed users were abandoning our expense report feature halfway through. We redesigned the workflow, and completion rates jumped by 43%.
Preference storage means you don't have to reconfigure your dashboard every visit. Your custom views, saved filters, and notification settings persist across sessions.
Real Example: When we noticed users frequently switching between monthly and quarterly views in financial reports, we added a quick-toggle feature. That came directly from analyzing interaction patterns through tracking data.
Marketing tracking helps us understand which educational content resonates. If dozens of people read our budgeting guide after clicking a specific ad, we know that topic matters to our audience and create more resources around it.
Data Retention & Your Control
We keep tracking data for different periods based on its purpose. Analytics data gets aggregated and anonymized after 26 months. Marketing tracking typically expires after 90 days. Essential session data disappears when you log out or close your browser.
What You Can Control
- Click the "Decline All Tracking" button above to reject non-essential tracking immediately
- Clear your browser history and stored data to remove existing tracking files
- Use private/incognito browsing to prevent tracking storage altogether
- Install browser extensions that block third-party tracking automatically
- Contact us to request deletion of specific data tied to your account
Keep in mind that blocking all tracking means some features won't work as smoothly. You'll need to reconfigure preferences each visit, and we can't personalize content based on your interests.
Managing Preferences Through Your Browser
Every major browser lets you control tracking files directly. Here's how to access those settings:
Chrome & Edge (Chromium)
- Click the three-dot menu in the top right corner
- Select Settings, then Privacy and security
- Click on Cookies and other site data
- Choose "Block third-party cookies" or "Block all cookies"
- To remove existing ones, click "See all site data and permissions"
Firefox
- Open the hamburger menu and select Settings
- Navigate to Privacy & Security
- Under Enhanced Tracking Protection, choose Strict
- Scroll down to Cookies and Site Data to manage stored files
- Click "Manage Data" to remove specific site entries
Safari (macOS & iOS)
- Open Safari preferences (Safari menu > Preferences on Mac)
- Click the Privacy tab
- Enable "Prevent cross-site tracking"
- Click "Manage Website Data" to view and delete stored files
- On iOS, go to Settings > Safari > Privacy & Security
Blocking cookies entirely will break some websites, including ours. We recommend blocking third-party tracking while allowing first-party essential cookies.
Third-Party Services
We use external services that set their own tracking files. Google Analytics tracks site usage. Stripe processes payments and may store transaction identifiers. These services have their own privacy policies that govern how they handle your data.
When you interact with embedded content like videos or social sharing buttons, those platforms can track your activity even if you don't click. We try to minimize third-party integrations, but some are necessary for functionality.
Current Third-Party Integrations
- Google Analytics for traffic analysis and user behavior patterns
- Stripe for secure payment processing and transaction records
- Cloudflare for CDN services and DDoS protection
- SendGrid for transactional email delivery and tracking
